Monthly Meeting played at Bellville on Thursday 19 December 2020

Another great day at Bellville. The greens were quick and true, as the scores on the day reflect.

In the Captain’s 4-ball I was joined by the Captain of Bellville GC, Morné Patterson as well as two of our members, Rod Lowe, who received his 200-game badge and our winner of the day and former captain on 41 points, Ed Jearey. Congratulations also to my fourball also for being best playing 4 ball on the day.

The field was a bit smaller than we have become accustomed to, but we still had 103 players. The average score for the day was 30.6. Congratulations to the Division winners, Ed Jearey (41 pts off 8), Malcolm Bushell (37 pts off 15) and Kilrone Ricketts (41 pts off 17).

It was great to have a formal prizegiving again and to officially be able to give Carl the send off he so richly deserves. It was lovely to give him his five-year tie as well. He had us all very emotional when he announced Kevern Pappin as an Honorary Member of Western Province Nomads, an honour richly deserved Kevern.

Congratulations as well to all our other members who were recognised with their rewards that they received.

I would also like to thank Carl for welcoming me in as Captain, as well as giving me my 15-year tie and allowing me to announce my committee for the next 20 months.

Thank you, as always, to our national and local sponsors. Our next monthly game is at Milnerton on 3 December 2020.

Yours in Nomads

Gary Cahi
