We arrived at Kuilsriver with heavy hearts knowing that our exceptional Immediate Past Captain, Carl Potgieter had suddenly passed away the previous afternoon, but in true Nomadic spirit, and I am sure as Carl would have wanted, we went out and played the game we all love in his honour.

We had a field of 106 players and the average score of 27.7 is an indication of the windy conditions. Congratulations to the Division winners, Thys Potgieter, Boland Nomad (36 pts off 8), Fynn Csizmadia (35 pts off 10) and Gerard Maclachlan (37pts off 16).

In my fourball was golf director Thys Potgieter who stood in for Clarens at the last minute and went on to win the A division . I also had the pleasure of playing with Hugo Vermeulen, who looks after the finances so well and who was also receiving his 15-year tie. It was great to have Roger Griffiths our scribe as the final member of the 4-ball. He will be receiving his 10-year tie at Somerset West.
