Our AMEF Project 2022

AMEF Beneficiary 2022 – Orion Organisation

Their Mission: Is to sustain and grow the team that trains and inspires the disabled in their community to reach their full potential, and to continue building networks to facilitate the placement of people with disabilities in the open labour market. Orion Organisation will always provide the support that families need for them to assume responsibility for the home-based care of their disabled family member or members. The WP Nomads Contribution: Orion Organisation is establishing a Child & Youth Care Centre (CYCC) which will provide a place to stay for up to 20 children and youth with disabilities. Taking them out of the some of the less safe areas of Atlantis. The approval to home children was granted by the Department for Social Development children began arriving at their new home from early February 2023.

How we were able to make a difference: WP Nomads ran a series of events throughout 2022 that were superbly supported by our members and their friends and families, including our famous AMEF Golf Day, a trip to the Barnyard Theatre, a day at the Kenilworth races, monthly draws / raffles and the auctioning of the 2022 soccer world cup teams. We raised in excess of R250,000, and these funds were used to purchase beds, mattresses, bed-side tables, wardrobes, a power inverter, a washing machine, a tumble dryer, fridge/freezer, a microwave and a television to create a safe and homely feel for the children.

The Official Opening (6th July 2023): For WP Nomads to help bring such a project to life, is a source of immense pride for our members.
