The selection of the original team will be based on the Standard Points Allocation criteria (1.1 -1.6). In the case of ties, and for selection from the official Reserve List, the criteria detailed in the Count Out Points Allocation (2.1 – 2.3) will apply.
1. Standard Points Allocation
a. Attendance and participation at Monthly games
It is recognised that the most important aspect of being a Nomad is to play in as many official monthly games that are on the Western Province Nomads calendar, as possible.
Therefore the allocation of points for doing so is:
24 games over the preceding 24 month period before closing date for Nationals Entry = 5 points
22 or 23 games over the preceding 24 month period before closing date for Nationals Entry = 4 points
20 or 21 games over the preceding 24 month period before closing date for Nationals Entry = 3 points
18 or 19 games over the preceding 24 month period before closing date for Nationals Entry = 2 points.
12 to 17 games over the preceding 24 month period before closing date for Nationals Entry = 1 point
b. Attendance at Previous Nationals
Attendance at previous 3 consecutive Nationals = 1 point per Nationals to a maximum of 3 points
c. Service to Nomads Golf Club Western Province
If you are a serving member of the current Committee = 1 point
d. Attendance at Committee Sanctioned Away Games
Seaboard tournament =- 1 point
Captain’s Away Weekend = 1 point
e. Attendance at AGM
Actual attendance not including apology at the most recent AGM, i.e., AGM before selection of the National team = 1 point
1 to 2 days of duty = I point
3 or more days of duty = 2 points
The maximum points thus accumulated may not exceed 2 points
2. Count Out Points Allocation
The count out procedure only comes into play with those on the Reserve List in the case of ties.
a. Service to Nomads
For serving as a Past Captain with W.P Nomads – 1 point.
b. Attendance at Other National Tournaments
Attendance at Botswana, Zimbabwe or Swaziland Nationals – 1 point for attendance at any one, and a maximum of 2 points for attendance at 2 or more a maximum of 2 points.
c. Captain’s Prerogative
The Captain at his sole discretion may allocate the following awards:
To a non-committee member who has contributed to Nomads over and above of what is expected – 1 point.
To a Member who has an upstanding history of playing monthly games but has been unable to participate in the required number of games as in 1.1 above due to serious injury/illness. The member will be required to produce proof of such injury/illness and have attended the previous year’s Nationals – 1 point.
